In 2011 Canadian activist and feminist Maude Barlow made the documentary Blue Gold, about the looming crisis in water availability. When SI Canada West Online aired the documentary in October, 2025, Maude sent a short update on the gains made and the current urgent water crisis in Canada. It is a women’s issue: women are the ones tasked with getting water, and its scarcity impacts them first.
