In the summer of 2025, SI Canada West Online got the opportunity to expand the Western Canada Region’s Virtual Career Library with 32 amazing Indigenous women Career Role Models.
The Virtual Career Library started in 2020 out of a desire to create a virtual tool to inspire girls and women when in-person Dream It Be It events were not possible. We hope it will continue to grow, to include more inspiring women from diverse backgrounds and careers. It is a rich resource/tool, to inspire girls to Dream It and Be It through seeing other inspiring women in diverse careers. It will profile inspiring women from Coast to Coast to Coast, in a time that women’s rights are eroding globally.
Through the services of Social Venture Circuit, we were able to work with Brianna Pope to expand the Virtual Career Library. Brianna is a grade 12 student from Williams Lake, British Columbia, as well as a member of Stswecem’c Xget’tem First Nation of the Secwepemc Nation. Because of her strong interest in science and medicine, in combination with her desire to better the lives of Indigenous people, Brianna has explored how she can integrate Indigenous ways of knowing and being into more westernized ways of medicine.

Brianna wanted to provide other Indigenous girls with Role Models in a safe virtual space, in which they can see parts of their own lives and selves in, and see that despite certain challenges, they will be able to find a career in which they thrive. Thus, Brianna felt keen to take a summer position with SI Canada West Online, where she was able to do exactly that through the Virtual Career Library.
SI Canada West Online is now actively planning a virtual Dream It, Be It using the Virtual Career Library with an Indigenous school.
