Four members from SI Canada West Online club attended the Power of My Voice Public Speaking Competition, the super speech contest for girls in Vietnam, and emceed excellently by Kim Hainsworth currently in Thailand!
There are two categories for the contest.
Category 1: Girls aged between 12 and 15 years old to describe one change that would help make life fairer for girls, and explain why this change benefits your community.
Category 2: Girls aged between 16 and 19 years old to tell why a girl’s opinion matter in creating change for the future.
What did the girls have to say?
- That EDUCATION is the fastest and most important path to the future they want
- That girls need to have a VOICE and be listened to
- That girls’ sports should be equally funded, as playing on a team is great leadership development
It would be great if the competition project can go around the world through Friendship Links – we will be able to listen to the girls from different countries to describe the world in their eyes and find out what the world should be in their dreams. It may be fundamental to promote and achieve world peace.
